National Police Chief And Minister Of Transportation Meet, Discuss And Strengthen Forest Area Protection

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni held a meeting. The two discussed and signed an extension of the MoU regarding efforts to build and protect forestry.

The meeting of the two leaders of institutions and ministries took place at the Rupatama building at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Monday, February 17.

After the meeting, the two took the time to ask questions. Raja Juli said that cooperation with the National Police was very much needed in overcoming forest problems in Indonesia.

"We from the Ministry of Forestry feel very happy and happy because we know exactly that the challenges in the forestry sector are extraordinary, especially soon we will face summer and usually this summer there will be forest fires or what we often call forest fires," said Raja Juli.

According to him, with limited human resources, it is difficult for his party to protect all forest areas in Indonesia. Therefore, the Police were involved because they had networks to remote areas of the village.

"Karhutla is also included in the matter of protected plants and animals, which still often occur in smuggling," he explained.

Meanwhile, National Police Chief Sigit said that the Bhayangkara Corps is ready to synergize for the next five years. Moreover, maintaining the forest as intended is one of the points of Asta Cita Pemerintahan.

In addition, it is also stated that the current change of seasons must be a concern in order to anticipate forest and land fires. So, there needs to be joint steps in suppressing the rules.

"As well as legal emphasis related to the potential for forest fires, which usually include intentional elements carried out by certain elements," said Sigit.
