Ukrainian Drone Attack Hits Kazakhstan Oil Pipeline Pump Station

JAKARTA - The Ukrainian drone strike hit a pump station on Russia's main oil export pipeline. The impact of the attack reduced the flow to the port of Novorossiisk in the Black Sea

The drone hit Kropotkinskaya station in the southern region of Krasnodar, where the work of investigating the damage was halted, the Kaspia Pipeline Consortium (CPC) said in a statement reported by Reuters on Monday, February 17.

Sources at the Ukrainian SBU security service said Kyiv attacked a pump station and nearby Ilsky oil refinery using drones.

The source said the two facilities support Russia's military action in Ukraine.

Ukrainian drones have repeatedly targeted Russian energy infrastructure in recent months, including in the southern region of Krasnodar.

The CPC pipeline, which shareholders include American energy companies Chevron and ExxonMobil, manages almost all of Kazakhstan's oil exports, which account for about 1 percent of the global daily supply.

Kazakh's Ministry of Energy said oil loading in the Tengi oil field continued normally.

The attack came a day before the United States and Russia were scheduled to hold talks to end the war in Ukraine. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Saudi Arabia.
