Menaker Yassierli About Ojol Getting THR: This Is Our Big Homework

JAKARTA - Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli emphasized the importance of legal certainty regarding the status of online taxi drivers and motorcycle taxis (ojol) in order to get the rights and welfare of workers.

"This is our big homework related to the concern of all of our drivers, is regarding a regulatory certainty, so it's not only about THR (holiday allowance)," said Minister of Manpower Yassierli as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 17.

Yassierli said that the regulation regarding application-based service workers is an effort to realize the Astacita of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto regarding the mission to create quality job opportunities.

"We translate as every worker in Indonesia, they can get social security, get certainty regarding wages and welfare. This is our responsibility," said Yassierli.

"And regarding ojol regulations or platform workers, from the start we have been one of our priorities here. We have conducted a study, inviting experts regarding the status submitted," he continued.

The Minister of Manpower said that his party also communicated with the International Labor Organization (International Labor Organization) to see how other countries view application-based service workers such as ojol drivers.

"We see that in other countries it is the same, it can be present and provide certainty related to online platform workers and that is a record for us and we are going there," he said.

On the other hand, Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan said that one of the special concerns of the Ministry of Manpower at this time is to create and strengthen the legal umbrella for these online transportation workers.

"In the future we will build regulations related to their legal standing (law position), that (the status) they are as workers, not partners. That is very important. We are formulating and reviewing it," Wamenaker said.

"(Regulation form) It can be in the form of a Permen (Ministerial Regulation), or PP (Regional Regulation) is also allowed. What is clear is that there must be legal standing for them. That is important for driver friends," he added.
