BPBD Blitar Finds One Miner Killed As A Result Of A Landslide Cliff

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Blitar Regency, East Java and a joint team managed to find one of two victims of landslide cliffs in the Putih River area, Karangrejo Village, Garum District, Blitar Regency.

Head of BPBD Blitar Ivong Bertyanto explained that the victim found was Rohman (31), a resident of Modanagan Village, Nglegok District, Blitar Regency.

"One victim was found and has been evacuated. His condition has died," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 17.

He said that in the accident there were two victims who were buried by landslides.

With one victim found, only one more victim, namely Nur Kholis (45), a resident of Penataran Village, Nglegok District, Blitar Regency, has not been found.

"One victim is still being searched. Officers have tried to find the buried victim, but it will continue tomorrow," he said.

There were several obstacles in the search for victims, namely access to difficult locations and prone to flooding due to rivers.

"The landslide material is in the form of sand and there can be further landslides. That is our obstacle," he said.

Meanwhile, the Commander of the Trenggalek SAR Post Basarnas Team, Yoni Fariza, said that his party immediately intervened to help find the victims.

He said the victim who was found was buried by a landslide from a hill as high as 50 meters. The victim was found buried in the ground up to 5 meters.

"The victim was found at a depth of 5 meters. One victim is still searching," he said.

He said the search location was narrow so that heavy equipment could not enter and landslide material in the form of sand and stone. For this reason, he also asked his members and other joint teams to be careful in the search for victims.

Previously, a cliff about 50 meters high in the Sungai Putih area, Karangrejo Village, Garum District, Blitar Regency collapsed on Sunday (16/2) and hoarded two traditional sand miners at the location.
