OIKN Proposes Free Land For The Construction Of Embassy Offices At IKN

The Capital Archipelago Authority (OIKN) proposed a free land facility for the construction of an embassy office in the diplomatic compound IKN before 2028 in order to attract friendly countries.

"I emphasize that I am not the one who decides. I convey that I will propose to the President as a step to attract them more quickly," said OIKN Chief Basuki Hadimuljono as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 17.

Responding to the news regarding the provision of free land for friendly countries that want to build an embassy office in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) before 2028, Basuki emphasized that the policy was a proposal that would be submitted to President Prabowo Subianto.

The proposal to apply for a free land facility for the embassy to the President, he said, was carried out to accelerate the presence of embassy offices for friendly countries in IKN, in line with the plan to move the political capital of Indonesia, which is targeted to start operating in 2028.

Basuki added, with the target of IKN as the political capital in 2028, foreign embassy offices should also have started to be built in IKN.

To support this, the IKN Authority has prepared a land area of 62.9 hectares as a diplomatic compound location.

The diplomatic compound area located in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of IKN is designed as a compact and integrated facility for diplomatic representatives of foreign countries.

This area was designed as a model for the development of the Forest City concept in the diplomatic compound, prioritizing the principle of sustainability development and meeting international standards.

This area will also be equipped with various integrated facilities including entertainment venues, retail and commercial areas, restaurants, and parks.

The presence of an integrated residential complex adjacent to the diplomatic representative office will also increase comfort and ensure ease of mobility for the diplomatic personnel on duty.

In addition to preparing land for the diplomatic compound, OIKN is also land for offices of international organizations located by KIPP IKN.

For information, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is said to have the focus of building the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) to become the center of political government in the next four to five years.

Currently, the construction for IKN that is almost complete is executive facilities or for ministries and institutions.

However, facilities for legislation and judiciary in the future will also be completed so that within four to five years all the supporting facilities can be completed.
