Missing Fisherman In West Siompu Waters Found Dead

The Joint SAR Team managed to find a fisherman who reportedly disappeared while fishing around West Siompu waters, South Buton Regency (Busel), Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra) dead.

Head of Basarnas Kendari Aminuddin PS said that the victim named Laode Muksin (52) was found during the fourth day of operation, on Sunday (16/2) at around 18.00 WITA.

"We received information from a team in the field that reported that the victim was found by fishermen in Lalole Village dead," Aminuddin said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 17.

He mentioned that the victim was found about 4.44 nautical miles west of its final location. Furthermore, the victim was immediately evacuated and taken to the funeral home.

"It was immediately handed over to the family," he said.

Aminuddin explained that with the discovery of the victim dead, the SAR operation for the ship accident against one fisherman who fell from his boat while fishing in the waters of Busel was declared complete and closed.

"As well as all elements involved in the search are returned to their respective units," said Aminuddin.

He added that in the search several elements involved included the staff of the Kendari Basarnas Ops, the rescue of the Baubau SAR Post, the Baubau Navy Post, the Siempu Police, the Ubsel BPBD, the Baubau PMI, the surrounding fishermen, and the families of the victims.

Previously, it was reported that the Baubau SAR Post Rescue Team was searching for a fisherman who fell from his boat around West Siompu waters, South Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province.

Head of Basarnas Kendari Aminuddin said the fisherman was named Laode Muksin (52), who was a resident of South Buton. The victim was first reported missing by local residents at 07.05 WITA.

"We received reports from local residents who reported that there had been a ship accident, where one fisherman fell from a boat while fishing in West Siompu Waters," Aminuddin said.
