Getting To Know Deface Attacks, Hacking Mode That Hits The AGO's Website
JAKARTA - Not long ago, the official website of the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia (kejagung.go.id) was suspected of having been hacked due to a defacement attack.
Kaspersky's global cybersecurity company revealed that a defacement attack was an act of randomly changing content or visual views of a website.
This type of incident is usually caused by several factors, such as unauthorized access, malware infection, SQL injection, DNS hijacking, or even DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks.
Although this attack was not carried out for direct gain, the defacement attack is said to be able to damage the reputation of the targeted organization, or even cause financial losses.
Defacers not only exploit technical vulnerabilities, they also exploit ignorance. Therefore, it is important for organizations to know the vulnerability side of their infrastructure," Kaspersky said in a statement.
