Indonesian Navy Holds 5th Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo 2025 In Bali, Focuses On Disaster Management

The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) officially held a 5th Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo 2025 (MNEK 2025) at Tanjung Benoa Port, Bali, on Sunday, February 16, 2025. This exercise was opened directly by the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral Muhammad Ali.

Carrying the theme Maritime Partnership for Peace and Stability, MNEK 2025 emphasized the importance of international cooperation in facing non-war maritime challenges, especially in dealing with natural disasters and humanitarian assistance (Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief - HA/DR).

A total of 38 countries participated in this exercise, deploying 19 warships, 7 helicopters, and 3 maritime patrol aircraft. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Navy deployed 19 warships of the Republic of Indonesia (KRI) to strengthen collaboration in dealing with emergency situations in various parts of the world.

"This exercise is designed so that participating countries are ready to face signs of natural disasters and immediately form a task force to provide assistance. In addition, tomorrow there will also be 6th International Maritime Security Symposium (IMSS) which discusses joint efforts in dealing with illegal crimes at sea," said Kasal Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali.

Not only focusing on maritime training, but MNEK 2025 also presents humanitarian programs, such as Engineering Civic Action Program (ENCAP) and Medical Civic Action Program (MEDCAP) which includes health checks and medical operations. In addition, environmental conservation activities such as planting mangroves and releasing turtle hatchlings are also part of the series of events.

After the opening ceremony, Kasal and his participating delegation led the International Fleet Review in the Benoa Strait, an event that also supports the Asta Cita Presiden RI Program in encouraging the nation's independence through the creative economy sector.

MNEK 2025 is proof of the commitment of the Indonesian Navy in building global maritime cooperation, strengthening international solidarity, and increasing preparedness in facing humanitarian challenges.
