Dewas KPK Receives Information On Alleged Extortion Of Investigators To The Mayor Of Tanjungbalai, North Sumatra
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, admitted that he had received information verbally regarding the alleged extortion committed by investigators to the Mayor of Tanjung Balai M Syahrial. But his party has not received an official report.
"The official report has not yet been received but oral information has been conveyed," said Tumpak to reporters via text message, Wednesday, April 21.
There were reports that the investigator allegedly asked Syahrial for Rp1.5 billion. This money is intended so that investigators stop investigating cases of alleged receipt of gifts or promises related to auctions or transfer of positions at the Tanjungbalai City Government in 2019.
VOI has tried to contact KPK Deputy Chairmen Nawawi Pomolango and Nurul Ghufron. It's just that the two of them have not responded to this news until the news is broadcast.
The KPK is indeed conducting an investigation into alleged corruption in the city. This is done after the investigator finds two sufficient preliminary evidences.
However, the KPK has not disclosed the construction or the suspects in the alleged bribery. This is because investigators are still gathering evidence to complete the case file.
Previously reported, there was a lot of information saying that the KPK arrested the Mayor of Tanjungbalai Syahrial through a silent operation. The OTT was allegedly carried out at his official residence on Jalan Sriwijaya, Pahang Exit, Datuk Bandar District at around 05.00 WIB.
It's just that this news was denied by the KPK. This is because investigators are moving to search, not make arrests.
However, it did not explain where the evidence was collected and what cases were being investigated.
