Depok Is No Longer 'controlled' By The Mayor Of PKS, Supian Suri: We Will Eliminate The Intolerance Stigma
JAKARTA - The elected Mayor of Depok, Supian Suri, admitted that he would build a sense of togetherness when he officially led Depok City in the next five years.
Now, Depok is no longer controlled by leaders from PKS after Supian and Chandra Rahmansyah were appointed as elected Mayors of 2025-2030.
"Our target is that we hope that we will eliminate the stigma of Depok, this intolerant city, of course. We believe that we will be able to achieve it when we build together, yes," said Supian when met at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office, Central Jakarta, Sunday, February 16.
The dominance of regional heads with a PKS politician background in Depok City has been going on for almost two decades. However, this ended when Supian-Chandra won the 2024 Pilkada defeating the candidate promoted by PKS.
However, Supian claims to embrace all community groups without exception while leading Depok City.
"God willing (I am) the mayor who embraces all parties, religions, educational backgrounds, all elements of society, lah," said Supian.
On that occasion, Supian revealed a number of PR structurings for Depok City to be carried out. This starts from unraveling congestion to pursuing infrastructure development.
"Memang Depok really needs infrastructure support to at least be able to unravel the congestion that occurred in Depok City, Sawangan highway, then traffic jams at Citayam station which we need underpass," explained Supian.
"This includes access to the UI Hospital or access to the UI campus via the southern route. This is our hope going forward," he added.
In addition, Supian will also fulfill the promises made during the campaign, namely allocating operational funds of IDR 300 million per RW.
