Wamen Isyana Reveals 15.5 Million Indonesian Youths Experience Mental Health Problems Equivalent To 34.9 Percent Of Total Teenagers In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Based on the Indonesia-National Adolescent Mental Health Survey in 2024, it was found that as many as 15.5 million Indonesian teenagers experienced mental health problems, which were equivalent to around 34.9% of the total teenagers in Indonesia, of course this issue became a common concern.

This was revealed, Deputy Minister of Population and Family Development/Deputy Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (Kemendukbangga/BKKBN) Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, SE when she opened the National Symposium and Consolidation of Young Hindu Leaders organized by the Dharma Indonesia Hindu Student Association (KMHDI) at the Indonesian Ministry of Religion Education and Training Center, Ciputat, South Tangerang, Friday/14/02/2025.

"The Hindu youth generation needs to be aware of the issues and challenges faced by today's young people which are increasingly complex, plus one of them is the mental health issue among teenagers," said Isyana.

This activity was held in order to welcome Indonesia Gold in 2045, the Hindu youth need to unite the movement to resolve Hindu problems starting from the education sector related to the availability of Hindu religious teachers; strengthening Hindu education institutions, then in the economic sector related to the welfare of Hindus, and social-culture related to agrarian conflicts and religious conversion.

In addition, Deputy Minister Isyana also revealed, Currently more and more young people are afraid of marriage, so they are reluctant to get married. Not only that, the childfree numbers in young people are also increasing today. BPS through Susenas in 2022 reported that around 8.2% or 72,000 women chose not to have children or childrenfree.

"Of course this issue is a concern for us together, considering that Indonesia is a large country and the population is the basic capital of development itself," added Deputy Minister Isyana. He then added, Our ministry accommodates the youth community that has been running well for decades through the Planning Generation (GenRe) program which currently exists from the village level to the National level, even the General Chairperson of our National GenRe forum (I Putu Arya), which we should appreciate that Hindu Youth can also excel and lead GenRe youth throughout Indonesia. With GenRe we prepare a family life for teenagers, through a planned education level, have a career in work and are married with full planning so that they can form a quality family, "he added.

At the end of the Hindu youth generation, it became crucial in utilizing Demographic Bonuses to welcome Indonesia Gold 2045. The role of the younger generation, the role of young leaders is very much needed. Indonesia needs smart young Hindu leaders, with the likes of Wamen Isyana, to advise that, Strengthening the Characters of the Young Generation, including noble women, want to work hard and of course be highly committed to encouraging the productivity of the Indonesian nation.
