President Prabowo Calls 15 Downstream Megaprojects Run This Year

BOGOR - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the government is committed to continuing the downstream program launched by the seventh President, Joko Widodo. A total of 15 megaprojects will begin in 2025 with an investment value of billions of US dollars.

"The program that has been initiated by Pak Jokowi, especially downstreaming, will continue and make it happen. This year, we will start at least 15 large projects with an investment value of billions of dollars," Prabowo said in his remarks at the 17th anniversary celebration of the Gerindra Party at Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor, Saturday.

Prabowo emphasized that the downstream project would be carried out without relying on foreign investment. However, the government still opens opportunities for foreign investors who are interested in participating.

"We will start without having to beg for investment from abroad. We want to realize Bung Karno's dream, which is to stand on our own feet. We will not beg," he said.

"However, if there are foreign investors who want to enter, please. Indonesia remains open to those who want to invest, but we will not depend on outsiders. We will rise with our own strength," he added.

On the same occasion, Prabowo announced that the government will launch an Indonesian investment management agency called Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) on February 24, 2025.

"Nine days from now, on February 24, we will launch an Indonesian investment fund that I named Danantara," he said.

Prabowo also asked former presidents and religious organizations to participate in supervising the management of Danantara, considering that the funds are state assets that must be jointly maintained.

Prabowo asked the former president, Joko Widodo, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Megawati Soekarnoputri and religious organizations to participate in supervising Danantara because they have state assets.

"In addition, I also think that the leaders of NU, Muhammadiyah, KWI, and other organizations can help ensure that this is people's money, children's money and our grandchildren," he concluded in explaining the downstream project.
