Exports Of Craft Semester I 2024 Rp197.8 T, Ministry Of MSMEs: Genjot Ekraf RI

JAKARTA - Expert Staff to the Minister of MSMEs for Communication and Inter-Institutional Relations, Sudaryano Rahmalifman Lamangkona, said that craft and fashion products have the opportunity to boost Indonesia's economic growth in the creative economy (ekraf) sector.

"The opportunity for the Indonesian craft sector will not only strengthen Indonesia's position in the handicraft industry, but will also contribute to the creative economy sector with a target of reaching 27.53 billion US dollars, as data from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in 2024," said Sudaryano, quoted from an official statement from the Ministry of MSMEs in Jakarta, Sunday, February 16, quoted by Antara.

Furthermore, Sudaryano said, based on data from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise in the first semester of 2024, the export value of Indonesia's creative economy had reached 12.36 billion US dollars or Rp197.8 trillion.

"This figure increased by 4.46 percent when compared to the same period in the first semester of 2023. The dominant thing is exports in the craft sub-sector with a value of 4.75 billion US dollars," he said.

He explained that this was driven by the significant increase in global market demand for craft and fashion products as creations and creations of the nation's children.

"Of course, this effort must be carried out together with a collaborative concept as an effort to increase Indonesia's economic growth by 8 percent as announced by President Prabowo Subianto," he said.

The Ministry of MSMEs, he continued, has committed to continuing to develop MSME development and development programs throughout the country.

One of these commitments is implemented through the establishment of MSME holding which aims to connect MSMEs with larger industries so that they can form supply chains to these industries.

Sudaryano said one attempt to expand the market and introduce cultural wealth as a creative instrument in achieving competitive advantages in the global market is through local activities or exhibitions such as the 2025 Purworejo Expo which was held recently.

"This activity can increase public awareness regarding the importance of sustainability and encourage the entire handicraft community and MSME entrepreneurs to increase information and knowledge in order to hone skills, especially in the MSME sector," said Sudaryano.
