Garbage On The Coast Of Pasir Panjang Beach, Kupang Collects Up To Two Trucks
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) held an environmental action by cleaning up trash on the coast of Pasir Panjang Beach, Kupang City, NTT on Saturday, February 15, 2025. In this activity, waste was collected to fill two trucks.
This action is part of a series of activities to commemorate National Press Day (HPN) and celebration of the 79th anniversary of PWI which falls on February 9, 2025.
"The City Government really appreciates the efforts of PWI NTT in this social activity, which also raises collective awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness," said Acting Mayor of Kupang, Maritime Affairs Lusi, when officially opening the beach's clean activities.

He appreciated the PWI NTT's move as a tangible form of concern for beach cleanliness in the Kupang City area. Therefore, he hopes that similar activities can be carried out in a sustainable and more routine manner in the future.
As a form of support, the Kupang City Government provides a fleet of garbage trucks to help transport all the waste that has been collected by the participants in the social action.
The chairman of PWI NTT, Hilarius F. Jalang, expressed his gratitude to all those who have contributed and participated in this beach clean activity.
He also encouraged journalists to continue to be active in environmental hygiene activities like this.
"As journalists, our job is not only to disseminate information and carry out social control, but also to play a direct role in real actions that have a positive impact on the surrounding environment," he said.
