21,750 Doses Of Vaccine Received By Ponorogo Regency Government To Prevent PMK

JAKARTA - As a measure to prevent the spread of mouth and nail disease (PMK), the Ponorogo Regency government received large amounts of vaccine assistance.

The assistance came from the East Java Provincial Government and the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) to protect livestock from the outbreak which is still a concern in various regions.

Head of Livestock, Animal Health and Fisheries (PKHP) of the Department of Agriculture, Food Security and Fisheries (Dispertahan) Ponorogo, Siti Barokah, said that the total vaccine received reached 21,750 doses. In detail, as many as 11,250 doses came from the East Java Provincial Government, while another 10,500 doses were given by the Ministry of Agriculture.

"We are targeting this vaccination to be completed in April. This program targets all villages that have a population of livestock, including outside the green zone," said Siti.

He explained that the vaccine will be given to divided-legged livestock, such as cows, goats, sheep, and pigs. Based on technical guidelines from the East Java Provincial Government, the vaccination process is carried out in stages, where one village must complete vaccination before moving to another village.

"Ternak yang telah mendapatkan vaksinasi sebelumnya akan menerima suntikan ulang dengan waktu enam bulan," tambahnya.

Animal health workers (keswan) will collect data on the number of livestock vaccinated with the support of the village government to ensure equitable vaccination coverage.

"We are also working with Kamituwo in the mentoring process so that no livestock is missed," he explained.

He added that the vaccine dose was adjusted to the type of animal vaccinated. For cows, the dose given is 2 milliliters, while goats only need 1 milliliter.
