BAMTC 2025 Results: Indonesia Qualifies For The Semifinals

JAKARTA Indonesia qualified for the semifinals of the 2025 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship (BAMTC) after a 3-0 win over Chinese Taipei on Friday, February 14, WIB night.

The certainty regarding tickets to the semifinals was pocketed by Indonesia after Putri Kusuma Wardani won easily in two straight games 21-8 and 21-15 against Sung Shuo Yun in the third party.

The result resulted in the men's doubles Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Martin and the women's doubles Lanny Tria Mayasari/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, who were supposed to play in the fourth and fifth parties, did not need to appear.

In this match, the mixed doubles pair Dejan Ferdinansyah/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti first gave points for Indonesia.

Dejan/Fadia were forced to rise from behind the first game to beat Yang Po Hsuan/Hu Ling Fang with a final score of 16-21, 21-16, and 21-19.

This is Dejan/Fadia's second appearance in the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship. They previously managed to contribute points when Indonesia beat Malaysia 3-2 in the last match of Group B.

Alwi Farhan, who played in the second party, was also forced to undergo a rubber game duel. The 2023 junior world champion missed the second game against Lee Chia-hao which ended with a score of 21-16, 21-23, and 21-11.

This is also the second match that Alwi played in the biennial tournament. Previously he entered the line-up when Indonesia won 5-0 against Hong Kong in the first match of the group phase.

Getting a semifinal ticket made Indonesia repeat the journey in the 2019 edition in Hong Kong. At that time, Indonesia failed to penetrate the final after being beaten by Japan.

Indonesia has at least won a bronze medal from this event after breaking the top four. In the semifinals tomorrow, Alwi and his friends will face Thailand.

Thailand itself got a semifinal ticket after a dramatic 3-2 win against South Korea. This is Thailand's third semifinal in the history of the tournament that started in 2017.
