KPK Employees Started Falling Down Because They Didn't Want To Become ASN
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Employee Center Yudi Purnomo confirmed the news of the resignation of a number of KPK employees. It is said that they resigned because of Law Number 19 of 2019 which mandates the transfer of the KPK employee status to the state civil apparatus (ASN).
Perhaps the resignation of KPK employees was not all bad. Because, Yudi said, the Corruption Eradication Commission instills values in employees who resign to continue fighting against corruption.
"It is their right. Moreover, they have found a good workplace to apply their knowledge and experience in eradicating corruption," Yudi said in a written statement, Thursday, November 28.
"We have had worse days in the past when our leaders were criminalized or when Bang Novel (Baswedan) lost his eye for life in order to eradicate major corruption," he added.
The statement about the resignation of a number of KPK employees was originally presented by the Chairman of the KPK, Agus Rahardjo, during the Hearing Meeting (RDP) between the KPK and Commission III of the Indonesian Parliament.
"Three people have proposed to resign. The rest are still waiting and seeing," said Agus at a meeting held at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, November 27.
According to Agus, the three people resigned because they refused to become ASN. Reflecting on the resignation, Agus reminded Commission III of the House of Representatives to encourage the government to make separate rules that can guarantee the independence of the KPK.
"We previously had PP (number) 63 which specifically regulates KPK HR. Now, if allowed, there will be a separate PP that regulates HR in the KPK. It doesn't matter what the contents are, the need is at least independence, even though it is still in the ASN family," he said
Indeed, in the new Corruption Eradication Commission Law, it is stated that employees of anti-graft institutions are "the state civil apparatus as defined in the statutory regulation concerning the state civil apparatus". In fact, investigators and investigators in charge of investigating corruption cases are also required to change their status to ASN.
This transition is then considered to have made the KPK no longer independent. Because, it is not impossible that while solving a corruption case, these investigators and investigators will then be transferred or transferred. The process of transitioning the status of an employee of this anti-graft institution was carried out in a period of two years.

Previously, the Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (MenPAN-RB) Tjahjo Kumolo said that his party had met with KPK Secretary General Cahya Hardianto Harefa to discuss the transfer of status for anti-corruption agency employees.
It's just that, Tjahjo said the concept of this transition was not yet mature. So that he has not reported the transition process to President Joko Widodo.
"I haven't, haven't reported it yet. But I've already met with my friends at the KPK. It's not time for me to tell you, so that you can do it first," he said at the Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta.
Tjahjo also had time to say, so ASN is actually better than being a KPK employee because they can serve in any ministry.
"Actually, with friends (KPK) entering ASN, he is not a KPK employee for life. He can go to the Ministry of Home Affairs, can go to KemenPAN-RB, can go anywhere," he concluded.
