Truck Driver Bendi Causes GT Ciawi Accident Named Suspect Usi Sembuh

After being declared cured by the Ciawi Hospital, the police named Bendi Wijaya, a truck driver with gallons of mineral water as a suspect in a fatal accident at the Ciawi 2 Toll Gate, Bogor, West Java, which killed eight people on Tuesday, February 4 evening.

Bendi Wijaya was found guilty of not being able to control his truck so that he hit a number of other vehicles at the Ciawi 2 Toll Gate, causing fire and severe damage. The number of victims reached 19 people, 11 of whom were injured.

Head of Traffic at the Bogor City Police, Kompol Yudiono, said that from the statements of witnesses and evidence that had been collected by investigators, it was concluded that Bendi Wijaya was the main suspect in the accident at GT Ciawi 2.

"The person concerned cannot control the vehicle, before kilometer 42 the brakes failed. Now his status is a suspect from the results of the examination of the suspect and CCTV evidence," said Yudiono.

Bendi Wijaya had been undergoing treatment at the Ciawi Hospital for one week due to a series of accidents at GT Ciawi 2. Investigators from the Gakkum of the Bogor City Police Traffic Unit checked the driver of the deadly truck on Tuesday night.

The police have also examined 11 witnesses related to the deadly accident at the Ciawi 2 Toll Gate. The police also questioned the company where Bendi worked.

After being named a suspect and charged with Article 311 of the Criminal Code for the accident case at GT Ciawi, Bendi Wijaya was immediately detained at the Bogor City Police Headquarters.
