Verstappen Issues Helmet Design For F1 2025, Simple But Meaningful

JAKARTA - The 2024 Formula 1 (F1) world champion, Max Verstappen, has shared a revised helmet design and the story behind it in preparation for the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Carrying the philosophy of "returning to its roots", helmet designs are made as simple as possible. The Red Bull rider has taken influence from his father's gokar racing days and original design, Jos.

Jos raced in the F1s throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, representing team Benetton, Simtek, Footwork, Jerrell, Stewart, Arrows and Minardi, and scored two podiums.

Max has added to his family's motorized sports legacy since arriving in F1 as a teenager in 2015, winning 40 pole, 63 race wins, 112 podiums, and four world titles so far.

Ahead of efforts to defend the title in the 2025 season and his efforts to join an exclusive club of five world champions alongside Juan Manuel Fangio, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen have decided to "return to the past".

"This is how I started racing at the age of four," said Verstappen, referring to the basic design he used during the race.

"Basically, this is my father's design. It's definitely something I'm very proud of."

"When I started racing, my father's design was something very important to me."

"That's the helmet that I really like, which makes me very proud when wearing it," said the 27-year-old rider.

"I've tried to make it as simple as possible, which I like, of course with the lion on top."

"The small details have changed, but in general, everything goes back to its roots. This is clearly, say, our family design. I am very happy with the design," he said again.
