Pamtas Yonarmed 11 Kostrad Task Force Checks RI-Malaysia Border Patok In Nunukan
NUNUKAN - Yonarmed 11 Kostrad Border Security Task Force (Satgas) patrols the Indonesia-Malaysia border patrol to ensure the national border marker remains safe and unshifted.
The commander of the Pamtas Yonarmed 11 Kostrad Task Force, Lt. Col. Arm Gde Adhy Surya Mahendra, said the patrol lasted for 8 days. Task Force personnel walked 50 kilometers (km) to ensure the existence and condition of 443 border stakes in the Nunukan Regency area, North Kalimantan (Kaltara).
"This patrol is carried out in order to maintain the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) and ensure that there is no shift in the national boundary markers," said Lt. Col. Arm Gde Adhy Surya Mahendra, Thursday, February 13.
During patrols, personnel face various challenges, ranging from difficult terrain with hilly contours and dense forests, to uncertain weather conditions.
"We are committed to continuing to secure the country's border areas to the fullest. This patrol not only ensures stock conditions, but also as an effort to prevent illegal activities at the border," he said.
In addition to checking the boundary markers, the patrol team also interacted with the local community.
"The team also provides understanding to the public about the importance of safeguarding state sovereignty. The presence of the Task Force in border areas is expected to provide a sense of security for residents and prevent potential security threats such as smuggling and illegal cross-border activities," he said.
