The Indonesian Team For The 2025 SEA Games Accompanied
JAKARTA The number of Indonesian athletes who will be sent to the 2025 SEA Games at the end of the year will be accompanied by the effect of budget efficiency carried out by the Prabowo Subianto government.
The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, has confirmed that Indonesia will continue to participate in the biennial event. However, the number of athletes will be selected more strictly.
"We will not send the jorjoran," said Dito when reviewing the construction of the Cibubur Youth Elite Sport Center with the Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) previously received a budget posture of IDR 2.3 trillion. However, the Ministry of Finance then gave an efficiency target of only IDR 1.4 trillion.

This amount was later renewed in a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives regarding the Ministry of Youth and Sports's budget efficiency on Thursday, February 13, 2025. The meeting decided that the Ministry of Youth and Sports received an additional budget of around Rp 170 billion.
Dito said that the budget downsizing made it necessary for his party to prioritize sports (sports) that will appear in the SEA Games later are branches that also exist in the Asian Games and the Olympics.
"With this efficiency, of course we have adjustments. We will focus on priority sports that will also be competed in the Asian Games and the Olympics," he said.
The 2025 SEA Games are scheduled to take place in Thailand on 7-19 December 2025. In total there are 585 match numbers from 50 sports participating in events involving countries throughout Southeast Asia.
The event can be used as preparation for the 2026 Asian Games which will take place at Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
