Rizieq Shihab Confirmed COVID-19, Witness Called Samples Not Checked In The Laboratory

JAKARTA - Doctor Hadiki Habib as a Mer-C volunteer said Rizieq Shihab was confirmed with COVID-19 based on the results of a rapid test. But the examination of the sample was not carried out in the laboratory.

Hadiki's confession began when the public prosecutor questioned the use of the laboratory when examining samples from Rizieq Shihab with confirmed COVID-19 results.

"Which laboratory do you use to attach positive?", asked the prosecutor during a trial at the East Jakarta District Court, Wednesday, April 21.

"I conveyed the confirmation based on my examination in Sentul", answered Hadiki.

The prosecutor, who was curious about Hadiki's answer, reiterated the question that the examination was not carried out in the laboratory.

"So you don't use the laboratory?", asked the prosecutor.

"No", said Hadiki.

After hearing the answer from the witness, the prosecutor asked a question that must be done in examining a person's sample of COVID-19.

"The standard must be to use a laboratory or not?", asked the prosecutor.

"The PCR swab is sent to the laboratory", said Hadiki.

"Had to go to the laboratory but at that time you didn't?", said the prosecutor.

"Yes", Hadiki briefly.

For information, in this case, Rizieq Shihab was accused of spreading fake news or hoaxes that confused. This false news is related to his health condition which was confirmed positive for COVID-19 while at UMMI Hospital in Bogor, West Java.

Rizieq Shihab was charged with Article 14 paragraph (1), paragraph (2), Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning Criminal Law Regulations and/or Article 14 paragraph (1), paragraph (2) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 4 years 1984 concerning Communicable Disease Outbreaks and/or Article 216 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
