Signed By Bahlil, RI And Turkey Establish Cooperation With Power Plants To Nuclear Power
JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Bahlil Lahadalia and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the fields of energy and mineral resources.
The signing of the MoU took place at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, and was witnessed directly by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after a bilateral meeting between the two leaders.
"The MoU between these two countries will open up opportunities for technology transfer and innovation in the energy sector, which will accelerate the development of clean energy in Indonesia. With the support and collaboration of international partners, we can pursue energy self-sufficiency in accordance with the direction of Mr. President Prabowo," Bahlil said as quoted on Thursday, February 13.
In more detail, Bahlil explained that cooperation between Indonesia and Turkey includes cooperation on power generation, electricity distribution and transmission, development of New Renewable Energy (EBT), hydrocarbon development, and new technologies that include hydrogen, nuclear, and batteries.

"This cooperation will take effect for five years and can be extended with an additional five years with an agreement between the two countries," Bahlil explained.
For information, Indonesia has collaborated with Turkish companies in the energy sector, especially oil and gas (oil and gas) as well as geothermal. Through PT Pertamina (Persero), eight collaborations have been established with several Turkish companies on geothermal and shipping projects.
Turkey is also investing in geothermal projects through PT Hitay Daya Energi (HDE) on Mount Talang Bukit Kili with a 20 MW development plan. In addition, Hitay Energy Holding also runs four survey projects and geothermal exploration. Until now, PT HDE has invested 6.01 million US dollars, or about 22 percent of their exploration commitment.
