Aceh Police Jamin Investigate Abortion Case Involving Police Officers

The Aceh Regional Police are handling cases of alleged abortion or abortion involving a police officer on duty at the Bireuen Police with the initials YF and a flight attendant, transparently.

Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police, Kombes Joko Krisdiyanto, said that this case was handled by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Aceh Police.

"In this case, investigators apply Article 348 of the Criminal Code which regulates the crime of abortion and Article 60 of Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning health," said Joko Krisdiyanto as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 12.

He emphasized the police's commitment to handling cases involving the first officer professionally and prioritizing the principles of transparency and accountability.

As a first step, he said, the Aceh Police had removed Ipda YF from his position at the Bireuen Police. The Aceh Police also imposed ethical sanctions and followed up on other legal aspects taking into account the elements of justice for all parties involved.

"The Aceh Police are taking every case seriously related to sexual violence and are committed to applying the article on the crime of abortion. The handling of this case is to determine whether there is an element of coercion in abortion that occurs," he said.

Joko Krisdiyanto emphasized that the National Police institution does not tolerate violations of the law and cooperates with various parties to ensure that the case is resolved fairly and transparently.

"In handling this case, the Aceh Police have mediated related parties to provide the best solution for victims. The mediation is carried out by paying attention to the interests of the victims and ensuring that the rights of the victims are protected," said Joko Krisdiyanto.

The Aceh Regional Police, he said, will also continue to provide accurate and responsible information regarding the development of this case. As a form of openness, the Aceh Police provide further clarification regarding the steps that have been and will be taken.
