Beware Of Cancer Risk Factors, Starting From Eating Patterns To Daily Lifestyles

JAKARTA - Cancer can be triggered by various factors, ranging from diet to daily lifestyle. The selection of unhealthy foods, exposure to harmful substances, and certain habits contribute to the risk of developing cancer cells in the body.

The Polyclinic Doctor of Perum LKBN ANTARA, dr. Maria Ulfa, explained that one of the main triggers for cancer is the consumption of unhealthy foods.

"Foods burned, processed foods, and foods that contain excessive preservatives can increase the risk of cancer," said dr. Maria Ulfa in a health discussion as quoted by ANTARA.

In addition to diet, an unhealthy lifestyle is also a factor that increases the chances of someone getting cancer. Lack of physical activity, alcohol consumption, smoking habits, as well as viral infections such as hepatitis B, C, and HPV are referred to as risk factors to watch out for.

Exposure to dangerous chemicals such as asbes and benzene, as well as environments with high air pollution, can also increase the risk of developing cancer.

Apart from external factors, dr. Maria added that genetic factors also play an important role in the risk of someone suffering from cancer.

"If there is a history of cancer in the family, such as in parents or siblings, then the possibility of cancer can be higher," he explained.

However, cancer is generally not caused by a single factor, but a combination of several risk factors that influence each other.
