Waiting For Collaboration In Handling COVID-19 In Jakarta And Buffer Areas In West Java

JAKARTA - The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) has officially applied for the status of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in five regions that are included in the category of DKI Jakarta supporting areas. The five regions are Bogor Regency and City, Depok City, and Bekasi Regency and City. Submitting this application also has reasons to reduce or break the chain of the spread of COVID-19.

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said the consideration for this submission was because the spread of COVID-19 in these areas reached 70 percent of the total. Thus, it was decided to follow the policies implemented in DKI Jakarta by imposing the PSBB.

"This indicates that we want a policy frequency with DKI Jakarta because data shows that nationally 70 percent of the COVID-19 distribution is in the Greater Jakarta area," Ridwan Kamil said, Wednesday, April 8.

For this reason, it is hoped that the Minister of Health, Terawan Agus Putranto, will approve the application for PSBB status in the five regions. It took about two days to consider and determine whether this was approved or not.

"Later it will be reviewed by the Ministry of Health, hopefully a day or two a decision will be issued," said Ridwan Kamil.

The submission of the PSBB application was also commented on by Trubus Rahadiansyah's Public Policy Analysis. According to him, this is the right step to stop the spread because many people from these five areas work in Jakarta.

However, submitting the PSBB status will only take time. Because, if you refer to data on positive cases of COVID-19, several regions in West Java, apart from the five regions, are known to have quite a lot of cases.

So, it would be better if the submission of requests for PSBB status be carried out in all regions of West Java where the distribution rate is quite high. That way, efforts to break the chain of dissemination will be more effective and not protracted.

"It must be submitted as a whole. So it does not take time. Because there are several areas that fall into the red or yellow zone in West Java," said Trubus.

Then, if it is not possible to apply for PSBB status in all regions of West Java, said Trubus, there is a second alternative that the West Java Provincial Government can do, namely by handing over the administrative authority for submitting PSBB status for the five regions to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

Later, the provincial governments of DKI Jakarta and West Java can make collaborative policies by prioritizing distribution considerations. So, later it will not take long and can focus on its application.

With the collaboration of the two provincial governments, West Java will be able to focus on steps or efforts to deal with it in other areas where positive cases of COVID-19 are quite high. "The administrative authority for submissions is handed over to PSBB to Jakarta so that the Ministry of Health can consider the distribution side. It will be more effective and later can take other steps for other areas as well," said Trubus.
