BMW Controls The BEV Market In His Own Kandang During January, Outperforms Tesla And Mercedes-Benz
JAKARTA - BMW started 2025 with a positive achievement after successfully becoming the leader of the electric vehicle market in Germany. Not only did they outperform their rivals such as Audi and Mercedes-Benz, but they also managed to overtake another automotive giant, Tesla.
Launching from the BMW Blog, Wednesday, February 12, the manufacturer from the Bavarian region has sold 2,795 units of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) at home. The segment contributed 17.22 percent of the total sales.
Thus, BMW experienced a significant increase of 13.94 percent compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, rivals such as Mercedes-Benz managed to sell 2,211 BEV units or contributed 11.21 percent of their overall sales and Audi up to 1,922 units of this zero emission vehicle (13.12 percent).

BMW also managed to overtake other rivals, such as Tesla, which had to settle for selling 1,277 units or making a 60 percent free jump compared to the previous year. This means that the German brand managed to get more than double what the US brand came for.
The downward trend in Tesla is of concern in the global market because of its falling sales in several regions. In France, sales from the brand led by Elon Musk fell by 63 percent. Then in the UK, this brand experienced a decline of up to 8 percent in early 2025.
Back to BMW, the best-selling BEV model of the brand is the i4 model with 774 units, followed by i5 with 730 units, followed by iX1 with 644 units, and iX with 161 units.
Models like iX2, iX3 and i7 also contribute to a wider BMW electric vehicle portfolio, giving customers more options than their premium competitors.
