Gus Yahya: NU And NU Muslimat Need Structural And Functional Adjustments

SURABAYA - General Chairperson of PBNU KH Yahya Cholil Staquf emphasized the importance of structural and functional adjustments between NU and Muslimat NU. The reason is that the current social dynamics demand a more balanced and dialogical relationship.

This was conveyed by Gus Yahya at the XVIII Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress at the Sukolilo Hajj Dormitory, Surabaya, on 11-16 February 2025. The themed congress

"Caring for Tradition, Strengthening Independence & Accommodating Civilization" was attended by representatives of NU Muslimat from all over Indonesia and several other countries.

This event is not just a routine meeting, but also a strategic momentum to redefinition the role of the 21st century NU Muslimat and strengthen the independence of its members.

In addition to highlighting structural and functional adjustments between NU and Muslimat NU, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf also emphasized the need for a harmonious partnership between kiai and nyai. Moreover, the role of women in decision making and organizational leadership is increasingly recognized.

"Communication between NU and NU Muslimat needs to be more balanced and dialogical. The regeneration structure must be mutually effective and become tandem to each other," said KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, Tuesday, February 11.

The XVIII NU Muslimat Congress focuses on strengthening independence in various sectors, especially women's economy and empowerment. In addition, this congress also discusses strategic issues, such as the role of women in maintaining religious traditions, the contribution of NU Muslims in national development, and strategies to face global challenges in the modern era.

The results of this congress will serve as a guideline for NU Muslims in carrying out future programs, as well as strengthening organizations as the main strength of women in Indonesia.
