Zeekr Ready To Expand Dealer Network In Australia, Target Sales Of 10,000 Units By 2026

JAKARTA - The auto brand from China, Zeekr intends to expand its network of dealers in the Australian market to three times this year which is expected to affect sales of up to 10,000 units by 2026.

Despite only starting shipments in November 2024, the luxury brand under Geely is optimistic about its sales in the country of Kangaroo.

"Currently we have received more than 5,000 registrations regarding the Zeekr model, and we are starting to ship our car from late November," said Zeekr International Chief Marketing Officer Frank Li as quoted by CarExpert, Tuesday, February 11.

The manufacturer also said it had delivered nearly 200 Zeekr X units to Australian customers and could potentially increase in the next few months.

"Currently we have delivered nearly 200 Zeekr X to Australian customers, but some are only designated as display vehicles. This is just the initial delivery," added Frank Li.

Meanwhile, Zeekr will also begin shipping an MPV model called 009 in Australia. Submission to customers was slowing down due to a recent strike at the port.

The all-electric vehicle brand will target the heart of the electric vehicle market in Australia later this year with 7X, a medium to large SUV that comes as a more premium alternative as a competitor to Tesla Model Y which is quite well-selling in the market.

"Because 7X is coming a little late, our retail plan is around 2500 to 3000 sales this year. I think it's a pretty reasonable target," Frank Li said.

Thus, the brand from the bamboo curtain country has a target to double its sales by next year or could reach 10,000 units.

"I think next year the number should be about double or even we can target 10,000 units. Every year we will bring some new models here. Next year we don't know what will happen yet, but I'm sure something will happen at the end of next year," Frank Li explained.

Currently, Zeekr 7X has two battery capacity options, namely 75 kWh for RWD and 100 kWh for RWD and AWD drivers.

Type RWD is equipped with a 416-hp electric motor and 440 Nm torque which can run from 0 to 100 km/hour in 5.7 seconds. The choice of 75 kWh of battery can cover a distance of 605 km and 100 kWh to 780 km.

Meanwhile, the AWD type has a 637-hp powered drive and a 710 Nm torque that can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour to 3.8 seconds and a 100 kWh battery that can run 705 km.
