Discord Establishes Children's Safety Equipment Provider Organization With OpenAI, Google, And Roblox

JAKARTA To commemorate Internet Safe Day, the Discord platform announced its latest partnership with a number of technology giants. This partnership succeeded in establishing a cross-industrial nonprofit foundation.

Called the Robust Open Online Safety Tools (ROOST), the organization is designed to face digital security challenges. ROOST will offer free and open-source tools that are easy to use to protect users of underage platforms.

The tools provided by ROOST can detect, review, and report child sexual abuse (CSAM) materials by utilizing a large language model (LLM). This tool will strengthen safety infrastructure and create user-friendly platforms.

"With a special technical team providing direct support, ROOST meets the organization where they are, helping them integrate strong safety measures while continuing to innovate," Discord said in its official broadcast.

According to Discord, ROOST can reduce the needs of organizations in developing strong security tools. ROOST's tools and open-sources can be utilized by small companies and public interest organizations that focus on platform development.

ROOSTs were built by a number of companies, including Discord, OpenAI, Google, and Roblox. The foundation was also founded by John S. and the James L. Knight Foundation, AI Collaborative, Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, as well as the Project Liberty Institute.

Discord's Chief Justice Clint Smith has an important role in the foundation. Smith will serve as Board of ROOSTs and Discords, as co-founders, will contribute funding, technology, and employee expertise.
