Suicide Bomb Explosion Near Afghanistan's Kabul Bank Kills 5 People

JAKARTA - Five people died when a suicide bomber with explosives tied to his body exploded outside a bank in Afghanistan.

The explosion occurred at 08.35, Tuesday, February 11, local time near the Bank Kabul branch in Kunduz province. The suicide bombing killed the bank's security guards and four others including civilians and members of Afghanistan's ruling Taliban movement.

A spokesman for the provincial police, Jumma Uddin Khakasr, said 7 people were injured as a result of the suicide bombing.

It has not been identified who is believed to be behind the attack and so far no group has claimed responsibility.

Militants from Afghanistan's branch of ISIS have waged a rebellion against the Taliban since they returned to power in 2021.

Taliban authorities say they have destroyed most of the group, even as they continue to carry out attacks in Afghanistan.
