Sri Mulyani Again Avoids Media Crews After The Ministry Of Finance Is In The Spotlight

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati again avoided the media crew after the Ministry of Finance became a public spotlight.

Until now, Sri Mulyani chose not to provide further information regarding this situation.

Media crews are again trying to get information from this by waiting for the State Treasurer who is one of the keynote speakers at the Mandiri Investment Forum 2025 forum. After completing his speech, journalists were waiting outside the event room.

However, Sri Mulyani chose to leave the door far from where the media crew was waiting and journalists had tried to chase her, but the state treasurer had already got into the car and left the event location.

For information, there are various problems related to Sri Mulyani, such as the efficiency of the ministry/institutional budget (K/L).

Where the Ministry of Finance issued letter number S-37/MK.02/2025 concerning the Ministry/Agency Expenditure Efficiency in the Implementation of the 2025 State Budget which directed K/L to identify and propose budget revisions at 16 certain expenditure posts.

Then, every proposal to revise the budget must be submitted to the DPR for approval and submitted back to the Ministry of Finance no later than February 14, 2025.

However, there was a postponement of the budget efficiency discussion meeting with their respective K/L partners in accordance with Letter Number B/1972/PW.11.01/2/2025 regarding the postponement of the meeting signed by the Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, on February 7, 2025.

In the letter, it was explained that in connection with the request to postpone the budget efficiency discussion meeting from the Ministry/Institutions because there would be a budget reconstruction from the government.

"So together we are asked by the leadership of Commission I to Commission XIII of the DPR to postpone the discussion of the efficiency of the work partner budget," quoted from the letter addressed to the chairman of Commission I-XIII of the DPR RI.

In the letter, it was also stated that if there is a Commission that has discussed budget efficiency with partners, then they are asked to hold a meeting again after the working partner gets the latest reconstruction budget.

Furthermore, the implementation of the beliax application, aka the core system of tax administration, has been experiencing problems since it was officially launched on January 1, 2025 and has received a lot of attention from taxpayers and even state officials themselves.

In fact, Chairman of the National Economic Council Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto signed the office of the Directorate General of Taxes to directly check the implementation of the beliax.

Finally, the Government and Commission XI of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR) agreed to return to using the old tax system so as not to interfere with the collectivity of tax revenues in 2025.

In addition, Sri Mulyani's subordinate, Director General (Dirjen) of the Ministry of Finance's Budget Isa Rachmatarwata, has been officially named a suspect in the corruption case of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya's financial management and investment funds by the Attorney General's Office.

However, the Ministry of Finance has emphasized that it will respect the ongoing legal process, but has not been able to provide further information regarding who will replace Isa as Director General of Budget at the Ministry of Finance.
