JAKARTA Discord, a social media platform, launched a new feature called Ignore to celebrate Safe Internet Day 2025. This tool was released to help users ignore messages from others.

Discord users from various parts of the world can already access this new feature. Although this feature can limit interactions between users within the application, this feature is different from block capabilities, according to the platform's explanation.

Ignore is developed to control and organize the experiences of Discord users. Using this new tool, users can stay away from the desired people without the account owner knowing.

"You can stay away from certain people without their knowledge," Discord said on February 10. "Whether you just need time alone or want to take a more secret route, Ignore allows you to personalize your approach."

This new tool is designed for user concerns about the block feature. This feature has negative connotations according to most users. Blocking a person will feel 'confrontative' so that this feature is not used to prevent interaction.

It is also a concern among teenage users. To support a safe environment for users, especially teenagers, Discord provides a tool that can limit interaction without cutting ties between account users.

"When blocking doesn't feel right but you need space from someone, Ignore helps you find that space without telling the person," Discord said.

When using Ignore, all messages, DM notifications, profile displays, and activities from account owners will be completely hidden. That way, Discord users can move comfortably.
