DPRD Rejects Restrictions On The Residential Period Of Rusunawa, Acting Governor Of DKI: Go Ahead

JAKARTA - Acting (Pj) Governor of DKI Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi responded to the rejection of the DKI Jakarta DPRD regarding restrictions on the occupancy period in simple rented flats (rusunawa) in Jakarta.

Teguh invites the DPRD to continue discussing the policy plan with the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government. Teguh admitted that he would follow the results of the agreement with the DPRD regarding the policy.

"Let's just talk about it at the commission level (DPRD DKI). Go ahead. That's not a policy yet, it's still being discussed, so please process it," said Teguh at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, February 11.

Teguh emphasized that the policy of limiting the stay of flat tenants, both programmed and generalized categories, is still under the study of the DKI Jakarta Public Housing and Settlement Areas (DPRKP).

"That's still a discourse, it hasn't been discussed. The discourse is to discuss, discuss, but there is not a single policy from the provincial government. Even as the governor's official has not yet been reported," explained Teguh.

Thus, Teguh asked the public, especially the residents of the flats not to worry about the policy of limiting the period of stay that has not been implemented at this time.

"We don't have that policy yet. Why did we tell him to stop it? Well, we haven't issued that policy yet," he said.

For information, the DKI Provincial Government plans to limit the occupancy period of the residents of the flats with a general category of 6 years and the residents of the terporgram category are limited to 10 years.

The policy of limiting the time for flat tenants will only apply after the revision of Governor Regulation (Pergub) Number 111 of 2014 concerning the Mechanism of Rusunawa Occupancy. Currently, the DKI Provincial Government is still finalizing the draft revision of the governor's regulation.

This discourse has drawn rejection in the DKI Jakarta DPRD. One of them is a member of Commission D of the DKI DPRD from the PSI faction, Bun Joi Phiau, who thinks that the DKI Provincial Government should increase the number of residences in Jakarta.

"Instead of limiting the occupancy period, the DKI Provincial Government should think about adding more flat units in the future. This is important to overcome land constraints and the high price of housing in Jakarta," said Bun Joi.
