Regarding The New Task Of Supervising The Distribution Of LPG, BPH Migas: Still Under Study

JAKARTA - Head of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (Migas) Erika Retnowati opened her voice regarding the new task of overseeing the distribution of 3 kg LPG. Erika said, until now her party is still conducting studies regarding the addition of the new task.

"Yes, maybe it will be studied first whether you really want to be assigned to BPH Migas or later it will be formed, there is indeed a (new) body that takes care of 3 kg LPG," said Erika, quoted on Tuesday, February 11.

Erika said that actually the task of supervising 3 kg of LPG is not the main task and function of BPH Migas. Nevertheless, she continued, if later assigned by the government, there needs to be improvements to existing regulations.

"So if you really want to be assigned, maybe the regulations must be corrected first as stated by the Deputy Minister (ESDM), right," continued Erika.

Regarding the plan to give the new threes, Erika said that her party had been informed by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

"It has been informed and we have both reviewed it in terms of regulations," continued Erika.

Previously, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, revealed the government's plan to increase the task of BPH Migas to oversee the distribution of 3 kg LPG. Just so you know, previously BPH Migas only supervised subsidized fuel and natural gas.

"In the regulations, the assignment for supervision is only oil for BPH Migas. So yes, if it can be integrated, all supervision (3 kg LPG distribution) is carried out by BPH Migas," said Yuliot Tanjung, Friday, February 7.

Yuliot said that later the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources would change the regulation on the assignment of BPH Migas so that it could immediately start surveillance activities.

"In this case, we will change the regulations first, adding a workload for BPH Migas," said Yuliot.
