Makassar Port Police Investigators named two suspects in the case of confinement accompanied by torture of two of the victim's children by pouring hot water at one of the inns on Jalan Flores, Wajo District, Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Friday, February 6.

"We have carried out a case title, as a result, there are four suspected perpetrators, two people have been named as suspects. This is the result of a case with the South Sulawesi Regional Police," said Makassar Port Police Chief AKBP Restu Wijayanto as reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 10.

The two suspects are a married couple, their biological father with the initials AY (37) and his stepmother with the initials NI (28). The two perpetrators are strongly suspected of molesting their two children while at the guesthouse.

The two suspects are subject to the Child Protection Law with a threat of imprisonment for 5 years. Meanwhile, the other two suspected perpetrators are known to have the initials S (15) and G (16) allegedly participated in the persecution because they were under pressure by their parents.

Both of these suspects will also be processed, but will still receive assistance from the Makassar Women and Children Protection Service (DPPA) for the continuation of the further process. And UPT PPA is ready to leave the child who was the victim of the incident.

"There are two children in conflict with the law. (The role), ordering to commit, allowing violence, they also commit violence directly. Their mother did the beating, watering. This parent also carried out direct abuse, pouring hot water (the victim's child's body)," he said.

So far, the condition of the victim being treated at Bayangkara Hospital after the incident has shown progress and the condition of the two children of the victim is gradually recovering. However, the condition of one of the victim's children is malnourished.

"Last week I checked, thank God there was a significant increase. So, their health has started to improve, then what is prioritized is malnutrition, because one is malnutrition, the other is moderate nutrition," said the police chief.

Restu said, from the hospital doctor, he said the main focus was to improve his nutrition first, from malnutrition and moderate nutrition to adequate nutrition. After that, the next 7-10 days will try to increase his weight. That's for health problems.

"Then for the psychology, we are still accompanied, it's good, we can interact well and have even started playing. The younger one (bad Nutrition), his brother is malnourished," he said again.

Regarding the condition of the wound moisturizing on the bodies of the two children of the victim who were doused with hot water by their parents, he said, they had started to dry up. Seen that new skin has begun to appear and grows back on the bodies of the victim's child.

"The collapse has started to dry, has been cleaned and has started to grow new, red and red skin, meaning that dead skin has disappeared and new skin has started to grow. So, it has coated, healing is very fast", explained Restu.

Previously, the two children who were victims with the initials SF (9) and IS (8) experienced acts of violence allegedly by their parents and siblings. They have the heart to torture both of the victim's child and lock him in the bathroom, and even pour hot water on their bodies resulting in burns.

From the examination of the Bayangkara Hospital doctor, the IS victim suffered burns reaching 58 percent, while SF's brother suffered 5 percent burns. The two children of the victim are undergoing intensive care at the local hospital.

South Sulawesi Police Chief Visits Victims

The incident also received a response from the South Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Pol Yudhiawan and immediately visited the victim's child who was still being treated intensively in the Bayangkara Hospital treatment room in Makassar this evening.

"We visited the two children, namely IS and ST, their condition has improved, they are still being treated by the hospital doctor after experiencing confinement, then the two parents poured hot water," said the police chief to reporters.

For the two parents of the victim, they are currently under investigation by investigators after being named as suspects for their acts of torture and detaining the victim's child. Meanwhile, his two brothers were also investigated for the incident. However, both of them are minors and are suspected of participating in violence but are under the threat of their parents.

"Now we have examined his parents, including his two older siblings, who are also minors. We have checked everything through the examination process according to the provisions, still accompanied by a child protection team. The suspect is his parents, biological fathers, stepmothers. And his brother is male and female," said the regional police chief.

Regarding the motive for the actions of the perpetrators, he said, it is still in the process of being investigated. In addition, the perpetrators are that the two parents of the victim also have seven children. The team from UPT PPA stated that they were ready to help entrust their children to a safe house.

"What is clear is that the crime is there. The two children were abused, doused with hot water, in chains. (the younger brother) We will leave it in a save house (safe house). His condition (victim) has improved because we provide good nutritional intake because after all for children, the future.

"We also have legacy, so we don't have to be advised to eat (continue) gradually. Continue to be given toys, there are also trauma healing experts, so as not to be traumatized. We must restore physical and mental conditions," he stressed.
