Official: Jorge Martin Absent From The Buriram MotoGP Test

JAKARTA Aprilia has officially confirmed that defending MotoGP champion Jorge Martin will miss the Buriram test next week.

The Spaniard had previously missed a test in Sepang after an accident that broke his hand and leg on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

"Jorge will miss Thailand's test to prepare as well as possible for the Thai Grand Prix," Aprilia said in a statement quoted by Crash.

Martin had two accidents in the first morning of the test. Aprilia and Michelin openly disagree on the cause of the accident.

The two accidents occurred at Turn 1 and 2. The second accident made Martin fall from his motorbike and hit hard on the asphalt of the track.

The problem made Martin have to fly back to Europe for surgery. The operation went smoothly, but he needed recovery.

Passing the test in Buriram means the Spaniard will enter the season opening round in the same place by only completing 13 laps on the 2025 pre-season test.

Martin's absence has made test racer Lorenzo Savadori take over the test assignment in Buriram later. Martin is one of three riders who missed the Sepang test.

The other two names are Fabio at Giannantonio (VR46) and Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse). They were also injured on the first day of Sepang's official test and are expected to miss the Buriram test on 12-13 February 2025.
