Marcus Rashford Starts Debut At Aston Villa In FA Cup

JAKARTA - Marcus Rashford debuted for Aston Villa on Monday, February 10, 2025, early morning WIB. He entered as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup Fourth Round.

Rashford has not played since Manchester United's win in the Europa League group stage over Viktoria Plzen on December 12, 2024 because he was not included in Ruben Amorim's squad because he was not on standard.

The 27-year-old entered with another loan player Marco Asensio in the 66th minute when Villa took a 2-0 lead. He replaces Donyell Malen.

The match ended in a 2-1 win for Villa, who brought Unai Emery's team to the FA Cup Fifth round.

The England international moved to Villa on loan ahead of the January 2025 transfer deadline and has now made his first appearance for The Villans.

"We have to protect each player and try to adapt them to our structure and use their skills."

"Marco Asensio, Rashford, and Malen are versatile players in a third of attacks. We believe we can have them," Emery said after the game.

"We are very demanding in our own way because we want to be in the sixth or top five positions in the Premier League. In this season's Champions League, we are in the round of 16," Emery said again.

Marcus Rashford has been exiled from the Manchester United squad because Amoram said the attacker had not changed according to his standards in training.

The 27-year-old had expressed his desire to leave Old Trafford at the end of last year.

However, a number of interested clubs in the January 2025 exchange chose to resign because of Rashford's high salary burden.

AC Milan prefers to bring Kyle Walker from Manchester City. Dortmund did not borrow because of financial matters.

Barcelona, Rashford's most desirable club, also did not continue negotiations because the player's wages could interfere with the club's finances.
