Rinov Rivaldy Becomes Indonesian Captain At BAMTC 2025

JAKARTA Badminton badminton specialist mixed doubles Rinov Rivaldy captained the Indonesian team at the 2025 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships (BAMTC).

He led the team with Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti in the representative position. This is the first time the two names have been trusted to be captain throughout their participation in the team event.

"Proud and want to give my best. I will maximize my trust as captain," said Rinov in an official statement received from PBSI Public Relations.

Indonesia will start its journey in the Group B preliminary against Hong Kong on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, starting at 08.30 WIB. This is the first competitive clash between the two countries in the event.

Indonesia had two days of pause before dealing with Malaysia at the same time, Thursday, February 13, 2025. Indonesia had previously won over Malaysia in the first edition of the grup round in 2017.

Rinov, who has experience playing in team tournaments, said that discipline and cohesiveness were the most important thing in the team to go far.

"I emphasize discipline to this team. I also always give motivation to them. The most important thing for a team is to maintain cohesiveness and unite chemistry," said Rinov.

The Indonesian group arrived in Qingdao, China, on Sunday, February 9, 2025, yesterday morning. In the afternoon, they immediately held a practice at the Qingdao Conson Gymnasium arena.

Indonesia has never been a champion in the history of this tournament. Indonesia's best journey in three previous editions was to win a bronze medal in 2019 which took place in Hong Kong.

Then in the last edition in Dubai in 2023, Indonesia's journey stopped in the quarter-finals. At that time, the Garuda squad gave up with a score of 1-3 against South Korea.

This year, Indonesia decided not to send top names, such as Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
