DKI Agrees On A Contract For The Construction Of The HI-City Roundabout MRT Line With Japan, A Value Of IDR 4.6 Trillion

JAKARTA - The BUMD PT MRT Jakarta has agreed to sign a contract for the construction of the Phase 2A MRT line with the HI Roundabout route to the City with a Japanese contractor, Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Company. This contractor is a joint operation with PT Hutama Karya.

The construction of the MRT line with a length of about 6.3 kilometers has a contract value of around IDR 4.6 trillion. The construction period is carried out for 72 months, from September 2021 to August 2027.

The contract agreed in the form of a CP203 contract package. CP203 will work on two underground stations, namely Glodok Station with length of 240 meters and Kota Station with length of 411.2 meters and underground tunnels from Mangga Besar to Kota Tua with a length of 1.4 kilometers.

President Director of PT MRT Jakarta William Sabanadar said that the construction of the CP203 contract package will also be integrated with the concept of structuring the old city, namely prioritizing pedestrian area arrangement and traffic engineering management.

"The construction of MRT Phase 2A, the HI-Kota Tua Roundabout, will pay attention to the protection of cultural heritage sites as well as support the revitalization of areas that have high historical and cultural value along the route in the context of urban regeneration," William said in his statement, Tuesday, April 20.

The construction of MRT Jakarta Phase 2A will pass through a number of cultural heritages including the Sarinah Building, the Bank Indonesia Museum, the Chandranaya Building, the Pantjoran Tea House, the Bank Mandiri Museum, the Thamrin Clock Monument, and the Jakarta Kota Station (BEOS).

"The CP203 construction will carry the design with the Sunken Entrance concept, which is the entrance height lower than the entrance in general with the aim of preserving the visuals of cultural heritage buildings," he said.

Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, who was present at the signing of the contract, said that the MRT Phase 2A construction was a connectivity route that would color Jakarta in the future.

"The construction of the MRT line to this place is carried out in order to revive the Old City area. We, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government are planning to build the entire area as an integrated regional unit with adequate intermodal connectivity, and involving various parties," said Anies. .
