Coordinating Ministry For Food Optimizes Dry Grain Production In Palm Oil Rejuvenation Areas
JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs seeks to optimize the production of dry grain from the planting of the rice gogo for the BUMN PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) program on the sidelines of the oil palm rejuvenation area. Production is projected to reach 50 tons in one harvest.
Deputy for Food Affordability and Security Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Nani Hendiarti, while reviewing the progress of the location of the Nusantara Plantation Plantation Plantation Plantation Program, initiated by PTPN IV in Siak, Riau Province, said that the gogo rice plant on the sidelines of the young palm oil program for the people's oil palm rejuvenation program (PSR) is a tangible manifestation of the support of Plantation SOEs in realizing the national food self-sufficiency program in 2027.
"PTPN's 'panas' program is a very good innovation. This pattern is the first to be implemented on oil palm rejuvenation land. We can see the results together, rice waves have emerged. The progress is very good and God willing, it can produce 2.5 tons per hectare," said Nani quoting ANTARA, Sunday 9 February.
With the progress of the growth of gogo rice that is spread over an area of 20 hectares on the sidelines of young palm oil plants and planted using superior seeds from the research results of the Bogor Agricultural Institute, he is confident that he will be able to produce 50 tons of dry unhulled rice when the harvest season arrives.
However, Nani requested that the potential for the first pilot project of the Padi Perkebunan Nusantara (Tampangan) Plantation Program be optimized.
"Because this is the first pilot project, it is hoped that it can be a good lesson and the potential can continue to be improved because the conditions in Siak Regency are certainly different from the defects on the island of Java, so there needs to be special treatment," he said.

The government has declared food self-sufficiency as one of the main steps to face global challenges, as well as to anticipate a global crisis situation, where other countries will prioritize their domestic interests.
Indonesia must be able to achieve food self-sufficiency in 2027. Nani said this target is a challenge, but steps and synergies with all parties as well as unification of vision and mission are very important, so that food security and self-sufficiency can be accelerated.
Meanwhile, the Marketing Director for Holding Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) Dwi Sutoro explained that the "Tampangan" program executed by PTPN IV was carried out by embracing partner farmers who were rejuvenating people's palm oil (PSR).
Indirectly, through the "panas", PTPN seeks to optimize the area for rejuvenation of people's palm oil with a rice plant absorption pattern when the oil palm plantation area is in a position that does not produce.
To achieve this vision, he said that the Ministry of SOEs provides support so that the "Tampangan" program can run sustainably. Currently, he said that the Ministry of SOEs already has an ecosystem in the form of the Makmur program or let's Advance People's Businesses.
"Today we want to convey to the Deputy Mother that the development of this rice is very good, and God willing, we are confident in the support of the government and all parties, together we work hand in hand, together realizing food independence according to the president's target," said Dwi.
In addition, he said, the "Tampangan" program also had a significant positive impact in the form of additional income from farmers ahead of waiting for their palm oil to enter productive harvest age.
"Previously, PSR land during the TBM (Tamanan Belum Menghasil) 1 and 2 status idle could be used to grow gogo rice during the first two years. This is a great opportunity to support food self-sufficiency while improving the welfare of farmers," he said.
Similarly, PTPN IV Institutional Relations Director PalmCo Irwan Warin-Angin also said that PTPN IV PalmCo is very focused on continuing to grow and develop with farmers.
Various facilities have been prepared by the company in strengthening Indonesian self-help farmers. For this reason, he also appealed to farmers who were in a dilemma when their palm oil entered old age to become part of the PSR acceleration movement and strengthen food security.
"We really build this partnership to provide fellow farmers to continue to grow. Partnering, meaning we will help all the power of effort. Including, when you have formed a partnership, farmers can immediately take care of CPCL to get seed and pesticide assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture. This accelerates the production process and improves crops," he said.
After being successfully implemented in Riau or "Bumi Lancang Kuning", the "Tampangan" program of PTPN is now also expanded to Jambi Province, precisely at the Dwi Jaya KUD, Tanjung Sari Village, South Bahar, Muaro Jambi.
President Director of PTPN IV PalmCo Jatmiko Santosa said the expansion of the program was part of the company's commitment to strengthen national food security according to President Prabowo Subianto's Astacita.
Food self-sufficiency, he said, is one of President Prabowo Subianto's priority programs which continues to be accelerated through the government's 100-day program. So, he said PTPN IV PalmCo, which from the beginning became the initiator of the Gogo rice planting on the sidelines of oil palm rejuvenation areas, wanted to continue to expand the program.
"In line with the direction of the Plantation Holding and the Ministry of SOEs of the Republic of Indonesia as shareholders, PTPN IV PalmCo is committed to supporting the program in question, including through planting gogo rice with an intercropping pattern on the people's oil palm replanting land," he said.
