Police Educate Farmers To Prevent PMK In Central Lombok

JAKARTA - The ranks of the Central Lombok Police, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province have also educated cattle breeders to prevent the spread of mouth and nail disease (PMK) in livestock.

"As an effort to anticipate the spread of PMK that attacks livestock. We hope that this activity can increase mutual vigilance from an early age," said Central Lombok Police Chief AKBP Iwan Hidayat as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, February 9.

He said the educational and socialization activities for the breeders were carried out together with officers from the Central Lombok Regency Agriculture Service and extension officers in all sub-districts.

The purpose of this activity is to provide information and education regarding how clinical signs, transmission, PMK prevention efforts as well as standard operational procedures for incorporating and issuing livestock as long as there is still an outbreak.

"Currently, we together with the Central Lombok Regency Agriculture Service officers carry out routine vaccines while conducting education to comply with the operational standards applied to prevent disease spread," he said.

His party has also coordinated with relevant and cross-sectoral agencies so that prevention can run well and optimally.

In addition, officers, especially Bhabinkamtibmas, are also ready to help sterilize cages, equipment, transportation equipment, and other materials that can mediate disease transmission.

"Hopefully, through this activity, farmers can make independent prevention efforts, namely by improving the quality of animal feed, eliminating infection sources, dactinating cages, and others," he said.
