Body Of TV Journalist Missing From Speedboat Explosion In Ternate Found

The joint SAR team found and evacuated the body of a man who is a television journalist for Metro TV, Sahril Helmi, at Sabatang Village Beach, East Bacan District, South Halmahera Regency.

Sahril Helmi is known to have disappeared during the incident of the explosion of the Ternate City Basarnas speedboat during an operation to evacuate missing fishermen on Sunday, February 2.

Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said that the body suspected of being Sahril was found wearing a black t-shirt with the words 'WAPENA MALUKU UTARA'.

At the time he was found this morning at around 10:00 WIT, the condition of the body had rot. So that the team of Police Doctors (Dokpol) and South Halmahera Police Inafis had difficulty in the initial identification process.

"Currently, the further identification process is ongoing," Trunoyudo said in his statement, Saturday, February 8.

Recently, Sahril's body has been taken to Labuha Hospital for further identification by post-mortem and ante-mortem methods such as height examinations, birth certificates, scars, dental arrangement, and the last clothes or accessories used.

"We matched the physical data and property worn by the victim before it disappeared. If the results are appropriate, the body will be immediately handed over to the family," said Trunoyudo.

Currently, Sahril's family is on their way to South Halmahera to wait for the results of official identification. The National Police promised to continue providing up-to-date information regarding its development.
