Mazda Reportedly Will Have The Latest Electric SUV, Use The Name CX-6e

JAKARTA - Mazda has launched Mazda6e to increase the choice of environmentally friendly vehicles for the European market. However, this does not make the Japanese manufacturer complacent.

The automotive manufacturer based in Hiroshima, Japan plans to produce an SUV version from Mazda6e to compete with other models, such as the Tesla Model Y as well as meet the zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) target until 2030 and beyond.

Launching from Auto Express, Saturday, February 8, the SUV version of Mazda6e will use the 'CX-6e' trademark with the same platform as its sedan version. The architecture was developed by Chinese company Changan which is known as Scalable SkyActiv.

Despite this, Mazda is still silent about the presence of the electric SUV and says his current focus is on the medium sedan segment.

"SUV is where the competition is, so if you want to be at the forefront, maybe you should be a little different," said Mazda UK Managing Director Jeremy Thompson.

Mazda6e is the European version of Mazda EZ-6 which was introduced earlier last year. According to the brand, the latest BEV is designed for driving performance and functionality to meet customer needs in Europe.

Carrying the Jinba-Ittai philosophy that prioritizes a pleasant driving atmosphere, Mazda6e has a careful-designed braking and control performance that responds to driver input linearly.

Mazda6e has a fairly wide dimension with a length of 4,921 mm, a width of 1,890 mm, a height of 1,491 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,895 mm.

Although the technical information from this car is still kept secret, Mazda said this car will be equipped with a 68.8 kWh battery capable of giving it a range of up to 479 km in full charging.

Meanwhile, Mazda also offers a large battery package measuring 80 kWh which is claimed to cover a distance of up to 552 km filled 100 percent.
