Sales Of Volvo Lesu In January But The Electrification Model Soared 17 Percent

JAKARTA - Volvo Cars started in 2025 by successfully selling as many as 50,820 units throughout last January. However, this achievement means a decrease of 5 percent compared to the same period last year.

The Swedish manufacturer said the decline in sales in January was due to Chinese New Year celebrations. However, sales of its electric models have increased across major markets.

Launching from the brand's official website, Friday, February 7, sales of the electrification model consist of pure electricity (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) grew 17 percent compared to the same period last year or obtained 22,398 units and accounted for 44 percent of total sales during January.

For pure electric vehicles (EVs), this segment accounts for a 19 percent share of the total cars sold that month.

During January 2025, Volvo managed to pocket 9,705 units of sales of pure electric vehicles or an increase of up to 5 percent compared to the previous year in the same month.

Meanwhile, plug-in hybrid cars acquired 12,693 units throughout January 2025, up 28 percent. Then in the mid-hybrid or pure ICE segment, this brand from Sweden pocketed sales of up to 28,422 units, down 17 percent.

Last month, XC60 managed to become the best-selling model for Volvo with 18,972 units shipped to customers worldwide, followed by mixings from XC40 and EX40 totaling 8,736 units, and XC90 to 7,473 units.
