National Police Challenges Jozeph Paul Zhang About Citizenship: Where Is The Evidence?

JAKARTA - The National Police denied Jozeph Paul Zhang's confession that he was no longer an Indonesian citizen. The National Police challenged Jozeph to prove his statement.

Head of Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, said that based on the results of coordination with the Indonesian Embassy in Berlin and the German police, there was no request from Jozeph Paul Zhang to change nationality.

"Yes, the data is like that (no change in nationality). Now he lives, he says like that, what is his proof?" said Ramadan to reporters, Tuesday, April 20.

Ramadhan said that from various data obtained from 2017 to 2021, there were requests for a change of citizenship. But there is no name Jozeph Paul Zhang or Shindy Paul Soerjomeoljono.

"In 2018 there were 65 people (changed citizenship), in 2019 there were 50 people, in 2020 there were 61 people and until April 2021 there were 4 people. Once again the data does not have the name JPZ," said Ramadhan.

With this data, Jozeph Paul Zhang can be declared an Indonesian citizen. Therefore, Jozeph must follow the existing laws in Indonesia.

"What does it mean, seeing the data JPZ still has the status of an Indonesian citizen and has the right and obligation to follow the applicable legal rules in Indonesia," he said.

Previously, Kabareskrim Polri, Komjen Agus Andrianto, denied Jozeph Paul Zhang's confession about revocation of citizenship. Based on the data, he is still registered as an Indonesian citizen.

"From 2017 to 2021 there has been no application for revocation of citizenship in the name of JPZ," said Komjen Agus.

Jozeph Paul Zhang, through a video uploaded to the YouTube account Hagios Europe, said that he had given up Indonesian citizenship status. So, he did not think he could be arrested. If possible, only use European law.
