Economic Growth In The Fourth Quarter Of 2024 Driven By The Processing And Trade Industry

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded Indonesia's economic growth in the fourth quarter of 2024 of 5.02 percent year on year (yoy) or lower than the fourth quarter of 2023 of 5.04 percent.

Plt. Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that there were five business fields with the largest contribution to the economy in the fourth quarter of 2024, namely the manufacturing industry grew 4.89 percent yoy, trade 5.19 percent (yoy), agriculture 0.71 percent (yoy), construction 5.81 percent (yoy), and mining 3.95 percent (yoy).

The total share of the five business fields covers 63.34 percent of total gross domestic product (GDP).

"From the business field side in the fourth quarter of 2024, all business fields grew positively," said amalia at a press conference, Wednesday, February 5.

Amalia added, in terms of the business field with the highest growth, namely other services of 11.36 percent (yoy), supported by increased recreational activities in line with the increase in the number of domestic and foreign tourists.

Then followed by Company Services of 8.08 percent driven by increased activity of travel agents, tours, and other reservation services during the Christmas and New Year 2024 periods, as well as an increase in the number of Umrah pilgrims.

Furthermore, Transportation and Warehousing of 7.92 percent are in line with the increase in the number of passengers and goods in various modes of transportation, especially during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Next, Information and Communication by 7.45 percent.

As a business field that has a dominant role, the Processing Industry grew by 4.89 percent. Meanwhile, Large and Retail Trading, Car and Motorcycle Repairs; and Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries grew by 5.19 percent and 0.71 percent, respectively.
