DKI Firefighters Complain That The Construction Of Fire Posts Is Not Budgeted, DPRD: It's Not That Easy

JAKARTA - Secretary of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Mujiyono, responded to complaints from the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) regarding the lack of numbers of fire stations in Jakarta.

Mujiyono emphasized that Commission A of the DKI DPRD always recommended the DKI Provincial Government to increase the construction of fire stations.

"Every LKPJ (report of accountability information), every recommendation of commission meetings, Budget Board meetings, and so on, we always convey the addition of fire stations," Mujiyono told VOI, Wednesday, February 5.

However, Mujiyono understands that the process of land acquisition and construction of fire stations is not easy. The DKI Provincial Government, in this case the Regional Asset Management Agency (BPAD) needs to determine unused land assets for post building.

Furthermore, the local government budget team (TAPD) proposed the construction of a fire post from the land that had been set. Then, the DPRD knocked out the budget for post building by the Gulkarmat Service.

"The land acquisition is not in the fire department. The provincial government's assets are in BPAD. It is necessary to determine where the unused assets are, then the damkar construction," said Mujiyono.

On the other hand, Mujiyono also admitted that the number of DKI firefighters was not sufficient. However, the decision to add Gulkarmat Service employees is determined by the TAPD chaired by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of DKI Jakarta.

"The addition of PJLP that has the authority is TAPD. The rules say, there should be no additional PJLP except for emergency and urgent and permission from the head of TAPD," explained the chairman of the DKI Democratic Party DPD.

Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, Satriadi Gunawan, admitted that his party had proposed a budget for the construction of a fire post since several years ago. However, until this year, the budget proposal has not been approved by the DPRD.

As is known, the current number of fire posts is 170 buildings. Ideally, each sub-district in Jakarta has at least one fire post. It is recorded that Jakarta has 267 urban villages.

"We have submitted it. What is acc in the council, not in me. The budgeting rights are in the council," Satriadi told reporters, Tuesday, February 4.

Not only that, but Satriadi also admitted that so far the number of firefighters is still far from ideal. The DKI Gulkarmat Service only has 3,700 officers out of the 11,000 personnel mandated in regional regulations.

Unfortunately, the addition of firefighters has not yet been approved. "It was 3 years ago that I proposed it. However, there is no policy for addition," he said.
