Police Defendant In Drug Case Sued 10.5 Years In Prison
Members of the North Kalimantan Regional Police Ditpolairud (Kaltara), Brigpol Sigit Utomo, were sentenced to 10 years and 6 months in prison by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) at the Tarakan District Court.
Defendant Sigit was also fined Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.
Sigit and other defendants, Lukman alias Lay and his colleague Ramadan Fitriadi, were charged by the Public Prosecutor for the case of possession of 283 grams of methamphetamine.
"The defendant Lukman alias Lay was sentenced to 10 years and 3 months in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison. Meanwhile, the defendant Ramadan Fitriadi was sentenced to 8 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison," said the Public Prosecutor of the Tarakan Kejari, Komang Noprizal.
"The defendant Sigit's demands are higher than the other two defendants because Sigit is a member of the police who should be at the forefront of eradicating narcotics, he is actually involved," he said.
In the indictment against the defendant Lukman alias Lay, he also demanded a high sentence. The defendant was considered convoluted when giving information.
"The defendant Ramadan Fitriadi was charged with being lower because he was quite cooperative, at the difference of 2 years and 6 months," he said.
According to him, Sigit and Lukman claimed that they did not know each other.
"But the witnesses we presented 3 people said Sigit and Lukman left together from the Gusher Market. That's why we believe there has been a consensus between them," said Komang.
Meanwhile, the defendant Ramadan in his statement admitted all his actions.
"The defendant Ramadan admitted that he had been contacted by someone from Malaysia regarding Sigit's shabu order. He also admitted that he bought 2 bales of crystal methamphetamine from Sigit's order," he said.
