The Case Of APMM Shooting Indonesian Citizens, Minister Karding: There Is An Issue Directed To Accusations Of Carrying Drugs And Firearms
JAKARTA - The Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI), Abdul Kadir Karding, said that there were directed issues regarding the shooting of Indonesian citizens (WNI) by the APMM (Agensi Pengguasing Maritime Malaysia) based on the prosecution of alleged drug smuggling or firearms.
Therefore, the emergence of these issues must be watched out for. Therefore, the handling or the legal process is in accordance with the actual facts.
"What I think we must also be aware of is that there is an issue that the issue is directed at allegations of carrying drugs or embezzlement of weapons," Karding told reporters, Tuesday, February 4.
To ensure the truth, Karding has coordinated with the police who are the attaches in Malaysia. In addition, the goal is to be more proactive regarding the handling of the case
"We have to check this again. That's why I asked my friends for the update on the police there to be very proactive for these things. So that's roughly the latest information," he said.
Not only that, Karding also emphasized that the Indonesian government must not fully believe the chronology conveyed by the APMM regarding the case. However, it must have a series of shooting incidents according to the results of the investigation carried out by the police and related agencies from the Indonesian government.
With another version, the handling of the case can be driven more transparently and does not fully rely on information from the APMM.
"But I've been talking from the start. We have to have our own chronology. So we don't depend, we just believe in the chronology made by APPM," said Karding.
As previously reported, APMM shot a ship in the waters of Tanjung Rhu, Selangor on January 24, 2025, at around 03.00 am local time. This incident left one Indonesian citizen dead and four others injured.
